The case of a female doctor who committed suicide today has come as a shock as she is being prosecuted for killing a pregnant woman during childbirth.
A doctor accused of causing the death of a pregnant woman has committed suicide in Rajasthan’s Dausa district.
Dausa Additional Superintendent of Police Lal Chand Kayal said Dr Archana Sharma committed suicide by hanging herself at her home above the hospital run by her husband.
Archana Sharma was running a hospital in Rajasthan with her husband. A pregnant woman has been admitted to Archana Hospital, a gynecologist, for delivery yesterday.
He is said to have witnessed the birth of Archana. In this case, the pregnant woman died during childbirth due to poor health.
Relatives protested in front of the hospital, claiming that the doctor’s negligence had caused the deaths. Doctor Archana Sharma was also booked following a complaint lodged at the Locksmith Police Station.
Archana committed suicide by hanging herself in her room at the hospital today after writing a letter.
Earlier, a pregnant woman died at the hospital on Tuesday. Thus, the woman’s family staged a protest outside the hospital demanding action against the doctor.
The police later registered a first information report against Sharma and filed a case against him under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code in connection with the murder. The pregnant woman is said to have died due to excessive bleeding during childbirth.

Police also said that Doctor Archana, who had committed suicide, had written, “I am not guilty of my death.”
The Federation of Indian Citizens’ Associations has announced that a candlelight vigil will be held at the Jantar Mantar in Delhi at 6.30 pm on Thursday.
According to the guidelines issued by the Supreme Court, the doctors’ body said that the doctor could not be blamed for the error caused by the doctor’s negligence in such cases without the inquiry of the expert panel.
