Toyota, the world’s largest automobile manufacturer, has stepped into electric car production. Toyota has introduced the BZ4X electric SUV in the Japanese market. The new EV will be officially released on May 12th.
Competing with the Kia EV6 launched in India, the Toyota BZ4X will compete with Hyundai’s IONIQ 5. The first model of Toyota’s electric cars will have HEVs, PHEVs, BEVs and FCEVs.
Toyota says the new electric vehicle will travel about 559 km on a single charge. In addition, Toyota says the goal is to have 90 percent battery capacity after 10 years.
Toyota plans to produce a variety of vehicle options that customers want to drive in hopes of contributing to a reduction in CO2 emissions.
Toyota will accept applications for the first 3,000 units on May 12 and begin first phase delivery.
