Like other car makers, Kia India has finally launched its all-electric crossover EV6 in the Indian market, foraying into the electric vehicle (EV) segment.
The company has started pre-booking for this car from May 26 itself. The car is based on Hyundai’s E-GMP platform, which will also be used in the brand’s Ionic 5 . It has been brought to India as a Completely Built Unit (CBU).
How is the look of the car?
Two variants of the Kia EV6 ‘GT Line’ and ‘GT Line AWD’ will be available in India. It gets a muscular bonnet with a ‘digital tiger face’, sleek grille, LED headlights with DRLs, wide air dam and raked windshield.
Blacked-out pillars, indicator-mounted ORVMs and 19-inch alloy wheels are also provided on the sides of the car. This car is made available with a choice of five colors – Moonscape, Snow White Pearl, Runway Red, Aurora Black Pearl and Yacht Blue.
These features are in the cabin
Kia has equipped this electric car with many latest features.
The cabin includes a 12.3-inch instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto , 14-speaker Meridian premium sound system, wireless phone charger, ambient lights, three-pin socket under the rear seat and electric sunroof. Many features are given.
The EV6 also gets ADAS system and smart power tailgate along with advanced safety features.
Kia EV6 will be 80 percent charged in 18 minutes
Its RWD (GT Line) variant will have a 77.4kWh battery that will generate 229bhp power and 350Nm torque. It will give a driving range of 528 km on a single charge.
On the other hand, the AWD variant will also have the same 77.4kWh battery which will give it a range of 425 kms.
This car has the ability to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 5.2 seconds and its maximum speed is 192 kmph.
These features are given in terms of security
Both the variants of EV6 get 8 airbags, all wheel disc brakes, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), Hill-Start Assist Control (HAC), Multi Collision Brake Assist (MCBA), Anti-Lock Brake System ( ABS), emergency stop signal (ESS), front and rear parking sensors are provided.

The starting price has been kept at Rs 59.95 lakh
In the Indian market, the price of ‘GT Line’ of EV6 has been kept at Rs 59.95 lakh and AWD at Rs 64.95 lakh ex-showroom.
Being imported through the CBU route, its price is higher than other EVs.
The Kia EV6 has received a 5-star safety rating in the Euro NCAP crash test . It is worth noting that the company will sell only 100 units of this electric car in the Indian market.
It will rival the Volvo XC40 and the upcoming Hyundai Ionic 5.
launch event highlights
Kia India CEO Tae-Jin Park said that while Kia is fully capable of manufacturing EVs in India, the company will launch several exclusive EVs for India in 2025.
The company claims that it has received 355 bookings for this car, which is more than what they have planned for 2022.
The EV6 has been designed by the company’s three global studios (Korea, Germany and the US).
