More than 750 Tesla customers complain, the car is applying automatic brakes in the middle of the road

More than 750 Tesla customers have complained that their car's automatic driving system is suddenly applying brakes in the middle of the road, causing the car to stop.

The question has once again been raised regarding the safety measures of the electric car company Tesla. More than 750 customers of the company have filed complaints with US safety regulators that their car’s automatic driving system is suddenly applying brakes in the middle of the road without any reason, causing the car to stop.

The US National Highway Traffic System Administration on Friday asked Tesla for a field report on incorrect braking. It has also sought reports of customers’ claims of accidents, injuries, deaths and property damages.

The authority has also asked Tesla whether its “full self-driving” and automatic emergency braking systems were active at the time of the accident.

Apart from this, the authority has also started an investigation into the braking system of Tesla’s Model 3 and Y, about which it received 354 complaints last February. However, the investigation covers an estimated 4,16,000 vehicles for the 2021 and 2022 models.

The authority, through its letter, has given Tesla until June 20 to submit all the information. However, the company is also allowed to seek extension of time if required.

Tesla shares fall 8%

Meanwhile, Tesla shares fell more than 8 percent on Friday. This decline comes at a time when Tesla owner Elon Musk has spoken of laying off 10 percent of the company’s employees. Along with this, he had asked all the employees to work from office instead of home.
