TCS Anniversary Appraisal: Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), the country’s largest company in the IT sector, has changed its anniversary appraisal policy. This change will be applicable to new personnel recruited laterally. According to information received by media, Chief HR Officer Milind Lakkar sent a mail internally to eligible personnel. In this mail, praising the contribution of these personnel in the growth of the company, it has been further said that their appraisal will be done during the process next year.
When an employee talked to HR about this mail, he informed that this time only experienced professionals will get the increment and those who have completed one year in the company on or after April 1, 2022, they will get the increment next year. TCS has not given any reason for this.
The head ofthe labor union told the fraud
Media spoke to Harpreet Singh Saluja, president of Pune’s labor union Nascent Information Technology Employees Senate (NITES). He said that the company promises to give a fixed salary at the time of recruitment and later changes it without talking to the employees, this is nothing less than a fraud. Saluja said that the employees were waiting for the anniversary appraisal and suddenly the information comes that this time it will not be received, in such a situation, Saluja said that why the company kept the workers in the dark at the time of recruitment.
Anniversary appraisal is differentfrom annual appraisal
Annual appraisals have a specific timeline, but anniversary appraisals take place when an employee completes exactly one year in the company. After the review process is completed, the personnel get a congratulatory message and their CTC is revised. According to Saluja, this process is under different names in many companies.
Trying to reduce expenses on salary
An employee working at TCS said that the anniversary appraisal was not mentioned in the offer letter but the reporting manager used to regularly inform about the anniversary appraisal policy. The worker said that he had also filled the information on the internal employee portal, but now the rules have changed. HR expert Goutam Ghosh says the move is to reduce margin pressure by reducing expenditure on salaries.
14136 employees joined the company in Q1
In the first quarter of the current financial year, April-June 2022, the company had hired 14136 personnel. However, if we talk about the net addition on an annual basis, its number has come down from 24 thousand to 14 thousand in the June 2022 quarter. Net addition means the difference between the newly joined personnel and the employees leaving the company.
