Talking to news agency PTI , Bajaj said that people feel that like every time the date will be extended. That’s why they are slow to file returns in the beginning. He said that at present 15-18 lakh returns are being filed daily and in the coming days this number will increase to 25-30 lakh. Usually people are filing returns till the last date.
5.89 crore returns filed last year
Bajaj said that last year around 9-10 returns were filed on the last day. Then on the last day 50 lakh people have filed returns. This time it has been asked to be ready for one crore returns. Significantly, the last date for filing returns was extended till December 31, 2021, and a total of 5.89 income tax returns were filed in that year.
Strong Tax Filing Portal – Bajaj
Bajaj said that the new tax filing portal of the Income Tax Department is very robust and it is ready to take the load. He said that the income tax payers have told that the return form has become very easy and refund is also getting faster. When asked whether some people are facing problems in filing returns, he replied that 2.3 crore people have filed returns without complaint. The dates were extended by two years due to the pandemic.
For the last two financial years, the government was pushing the dates for filing ITR. This step was being taken to ease the difficulties being faced by the people due to the corona virus epidemic, but this time it is not thought to do so.
That’s why it is necessary to file ITR
If you want to go abroad, then you can be asked for ITR for visa for three to five years. A certificate is obtained on filing ITR, which is a government certificate of income of the individual. It can come in handy in many places. This makes it easier to get a loan. In order to claim tax refund, it is necessary to file ITR. If you want to take a contract from any department, then ITR certificate has to be shown there.
As per Income Tax rules, July 31 is the last date to file ITR for taxpayers whose accounts are not required to be audited. In the ITR form, the taxpayer gives information about his income and the tax to be paid in that financial year to the Income Tax Department. Seven types of ITR forms are issued by the department, which depend on the method of income of the taxpayer and his amount.
