West Bengal SSC Recruitment Scam 2022: In the teacher recruitment scam in West Bengal, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday raided four places, including another flat of Arpita Mukherjee. Arpita Mukherjee is a close aide of the arrested state minister Partha Chatterjee. ED is probing money laundering in this case.

These raids took place in Belgharia and a huge amount of cash was recovered. Earlier on Saturday, the ED had seized Rs 21.9 crore in cash from another flat Arpita. The ED had to wait to conduct a search operation at the flat in the city as its keys were not available.

Employees were trying to locate a locksmith. Central Police personnel were waiting in the ground floor lobby of the building. “We have traced some of Arpita’s flats in Belgharia (northern part of the city) and another flat in Rajdanga (southern part). Our officials are conducting searches there,”the official said.

Efforts are being made to open one of Arpita’s two flats in Belgharia, but its keys are not being found, the official said. He said Mukherjee was cooperating in the investigation, but the minister was not cooperating in the investigation. Chatterjee is currently the Parliamentary Affairs Minister in the West Bengal government led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

“We are finding it difficult to interrogate Chatterjee. He is very stubborn and not cooperating with our officials. He is not answering our questions,”the official said. Chatterjee may be interrogated by sitting alongside Arpita and Trinamool Congress MLA and former West Bengal Board of Elementary Education chairman Manik Bhattacharya, the official said.

The ED had arrested Chatterjee, general secretary of the Trinamool Congress, on Saturday. The arrest was made in connection with the investigation by the School Service Commission into the alleged irregularities in the recruitment of teachers. News agency PTI reported that searches were going on in another flat of Arpita in the town. The ED had arrested the minister and his aide from their apartment in southwest Kolkata with over Rs 20 crore in cash, jewelery and foreign currency.

Chatterjee and Mukherjee were taken to the ESI hospital at Joka in the city amid tight security for medical examination. From where he was later brought to the ED office for questioning.

Mamta’s ministers furious on the question of resignation

On the other hand, Partha Chatterjee got furious on Wednesday when the media asked questions related to his resignation and gave a sharp reaction in response saying what is the need for it?

He was questioned by the media outside the ESI Hospital located in Joka, Kolkata. This morning Chatterjee and his close aide Arpita Mukherjee were taken for a routine check-up ahead of the ED’s questioning.

On the question asked by the media whether he is considering resigning from the post of minister? An angry Chatterjee said,”What is the need (to resign)?”
