Now the makers have changed the name of the film in view of the controversy. ‘Prithviraj’ has been renamed as ‘Samrat Prithviraj’.
Yash Raj Films gave information by writing a letter to Karni Sena
The Karni Sena had recently filed a public interest litigation demanding that the makers change the name of the film to ‘Samrat Prithviraj’.
Failure to do so, this organization threatened to boycott the film in Rajasthan.
Now a letter has been written on behalf of Yash Raj Films to Karni Sena, in which it has been said to accept their demand. Just a few days before the release, the makers have taken a settled step.
What was the argument given by those opposing the name?
Those opposing the name of the film had argued that Prithviraj was a great emperor and only ‘Prithviraj’ in the title hurts the sentiments. Therefore, in the petition, there was a demand to change the name of the film.
What did the makers say in the letter to the Karni Sena?
The makers wrote in their letter, ‘We Yash Raj Films have been a leading production house since the 1970s and are growing into one of the largest film studios in India.’
The letter further read, ‘Sincerely appreciate your effort to alert us to your complaint regarding the title and assure you that we did not intend to hurt anyone’s sentiments.’
We will change the title of the film to ‘Samrat Prithviraj’- Yash Raj Films
Yash Raj Films said that through this film, they have engraved on the screen the bravery, achievements and contribution of Prithviraj to the history of the country.
The makers further added, “We will change the title of the film to ‘Samrat Prithviraj’ to resolve the complaint peacefully and amicably. We wish to convey our good intentions to Shri Rajput Karni Sena and its members regarding the portrayal of the great warrior in the film.” Thank you for understanding.”
The name of the film also related to caste dispute
The film is based on the epic poem ‘Prithviraj Raso’ by the poet Chandbardai. Controversy has also arisen regarding the caste of Prithviraj mentioned in the film.
Prithviraj is shown as a Rajput in the film.
The Akhil Bharatiya Veer Mahasabha says that Prithviraj Chauhan was a Gurjar. Mahasabha has also threatened that they will not allow the film to be released if it is not changed.

Manushi will debut in Bollywood through the film
ormer Miss World Manushi Chillar will make her Bollywood debut through the film. In this, she played the role of Princess Sanyogita.
The action sequences in the film as well as the love chemistry of Akshay and Manushi will be worth watching. Sanjay Dutt and Sonu Sood are also a part of the film. Sonu played the role of poet Chandvardai in this.
The film will mainly show the fight between Prithviraj and Mohammad Gauri. The film will hit the screens on June 3.
