Chennai: Director Shankar has directed almost all the leading actors of Tamil cinema like Rajini, Kamal, Vijay, Vikram and made the films a box office and critical success. Apart from directing, he has also produced good films including ‘Kadhal’, ‘Veil’ and ‘Kalluri’.

In this case Shankar has been awarded an honorary doctorate by Vels University. Each year the University of Wales awards honorary doctorates to individuals who have achieved academic excellence. A few days ago it announced that this year it will be given to director Shankar and cricketer Raina.

Today, the University of Wales honored Shankar and Raina with honorary doctorate degrees in a program attended by Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi and Isari Ganesh.

With this, Shankar has received an honorary doctorate for the second time. It is noteworthy that MGR University had earlier honored Shankar with a doctorate degree in 2007.
