Andhra Pradesh: The decision to change the name of Konaseema district, the district headquarters Amalapuram collapsed. Some youths took to the road to protest against the renaming of Konaseema district by Dr BR Ambedkar as Konaseema district.

Other protesters chanted and hurled stones at police. Several police officers and staff were seriously injured in the stone pelting by the protesters.

Dr BR Ambedkar, who came to the spot to review the situation in Amalapuram and prevent the protesters, also pelted stones at SP Subbareddy of Konaseema district. SP Subbareddy narrowly escaped the attack.
