After the floods in many parts of the state in the month of May, Assam is once again receiving heavy rains. So far six people have died in heavy rains and landslides in different areas of the state for the last three days.
Two minors were buried alive in heavy rains and landslides in Assam’s Goalpara town. His body was later recovered from the rubble.
Brothers and sisters were swept away by the fall of the wall
According to a report in NDTV , due to heavy rains and landslides, the wall next to the victim’s house collapsed due to which both the minor siblings fell down along with the debris and were buried in the same.
Later their bodies were retrieved by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) team. Let us inform that this year 44 deaths have been reported due to floods and landslides in different parts of the state.
National highway damaged due to heavy rain
Parts of the National Highway-6 (NH-6) under the Lumshnong Police Station area of Meghalaya collapsed in a landslide triggered by incessant rains and the highway was badly damaged, officials said today.
Due to this the movement of large vehicles has been stopped and commuters have been advised not to use this road. This road connects parts of South Assam, Tripura, Mizoram and Manipur with the rest of the country.
Thousands affected due to floods
Assam’s Dima Hasao district is also facing floods and landslides, while several villages in Tamulpur district have been submerged in flood waters. More than 7,000 people have been affected by the floods here.
The water level of Boroliya, Pagaladiya and Motoanga rivers has increased due to the daily rains for the past few days.
Many other parts of the state have also been flooded by rain water and roads have been submerged.

Meteorological Department expressed the possibility of rain in many areas of the country
The Meteorological Department said that the spell of heavy rains is likely to continue over Northeast and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during the next five days.
These days the weather is taking a turn in many parts of the country. After light rain overnight in the national capital, the minimum temperature dropped by four degrees.
Due to this, the weather became pleasant on Thursday in Delhi. The Meteorological Department has predicted light rain in Delhi this evening.
