The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Boris Johnson arrived in India today (April 21, 2022) on a two-day state visit. Arriving in Ahmedabad, the capital of Gujarat, he was received by high officials.
On the first day, he will visit the Gandhi Ashram and attend various events, including a consultation on improving his professionalism and a meeting with Prime Minister Modi.
He is also expected to discuss trade agreements and global issues between the two countries during his visit. India is also expected to sign various agreements to enhance relations between the two countries.
Speaking to reporters on a flight to India, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said he was ready to issue additional visas to India in exchange for a free trade agreement that could boost bilateral trade by billions of pounds a year.
“I always support the coming of talented people to our country,” Johnson told reporters.
It is noteworthy that Britain has given high priority to establishing a trade agreement with India after Brexit, in order to move away from the EU’s common trade policy and move towards a faster growing economy around the Indo – Pacific region.
His meeting with Ukraine, in the midst of the ongoing Russian war, has attracted worldwide attention. Earlier, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson had twice planned to visit India. While attending a special guest on Republic Day, his trip was canceled due to the spread of the Corona epidemic.
