Mumbai: Police are imposing certain rules on motorists in order to prevent road accidents. In Mumbai, riding a bike without a helmet carries a fine of Rs 500 and a driver’s license for three months, police said.
Mumbai police have warned motorcyclists and occupants of helmets to wear helmets and take action against violators.
According to a circular sent by the police, it is mandatory for motorcyclists to wear helmets. Speaking further, the DCP said that the traffic police had registered 75,000 cases against those who did not wear helmets last month.
He further said that the saloon of everyone who rides a bike without wearing a helmet will be sent to the RTO and their driving license will be revoked for a period of 3 months.

The person will then be shown two hours of videos on safe driving and traffic rules, which he is told to watch.
Recently, the Chennai Metropolitan Police had helped a person behind a two-wheeler in Chennai to wear a helmet. Violators will be fined Rs 100.
