Palakkad: Bibi, a 72-year-old man from Cherthala near Alappuzha in Kerala, visited Annai Velankanni temple with his family two days ago.

When he was returning to Cherthala yesterday after completing his tour, his Tempo Traveler vehicle collided head-on with a tourist bus coming towards Chittoor at around 5 pm near Palakkad North.

Firefighters, police and locals pulled people out of the vehicle. According to locals, the bus veered off the road and hit a traveler in heavy rain.

The bus was traveling from Thiruvalla to Palani and the traveler was traveling from Velankanni to Alappuzha.

Two killed in car-lorry collision in Vadakara The driver of the car and the passenger were killed. They have not been identified. The occupants of the car were from Kozhikode. The accident happened on the way back to Parassinikkadavu temple.

It collided with a lorry heading towards Kannur. Both children in the car were injured. The accident took place at Vadakara KT Bazaar around 1.30 pm. Locals rushed the injured to the hospital from the wrecked car.

This includes Bibi, his wife Rosley (65), and Bibi’s brother’s wife Jelly (51). 3 persons were crushed to death on the spot. Another 17 people were seriously injured.

Police rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies and sent them to the government hospital for autopsy. The injured were admitted to the hospital for treatment. Police have registered a case and are investigating the incident.
