The Central Government has withdrawn the advisory issued for not sharing the photocopy of Aadhar card . This advisory was issued by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.
In this, people were asked not to share photocopies of Aadhar card with private entities and in doing so expressed the possibility of its misuse.
Now this advisory issued on May 27 has been withdrawn within just 48 hours.
What did the ministry say in its advisory?
The ministry, in its advisory, had said, “Only those entities that have obtained user license from UIDAI can use Aadhaar to establish the identity of an individual. Copy of Aadhaar card to unlicensed entities like hotels and film halls.” There is no right to collect or retain the same. This is an offense under the Aadhar Act 2016. If a private entity asks for a photocopy of the Aadhar card, please check its license.”
What did the ministry say in the new statement?
Now the ministry has issued a new statement saying that its old advisory was misunderstood and that is why it is being withdrawn.
The ministry said the advisory was issued regarding misuse of photoshopped Aadhaar cards.
Now the ministry has asked people to take general precautions while sharing the photocopy of Aadhar card.
Many experts are already questioning the sharing of Aadhaar details.
Ministry had advised to share the mask Aadhar card
The IT Ministry , in its old advisory, had also advised private entities to give a copy of the mask Aadhaar card. In the mask Aadhaar card, only the last four digits of the Aadhaar number are visible.
The ministry had also advised against using internet cafes to download e-Aadhaar cards. Even if someone does this, he was asked to permanently delete the entire copy of e-Aadhaar from the computer before leaving.

How to Download Mask Aadhar Card?
- To download the mask Aadhar card, first of all you have to visit https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/ website.
- After this, enter your Aadhaar card number here and select the option of ‘Do you want mask Aadhaar card’.
- Finally click on download. By doing this your mask Aadhar card will be downloaded in which only the last four digits will be shown.
- You can also visit this website for whether an Aadhaar number is correct or not.
