Where is the bridge being built?

Recently there were reports that China is building another bridge on its side from the Line of Actual Control (LAC) on Pangong Lake, which is bigger and wider than the existing one.

Both these bridges exist in areas that have been China since the 1960s.” We have never accepted such illegal occupation of our land, nor do we accept such unjustified claims of China and construction activities.”

Government is keeping an eye on all the incidents- Ministry

In his statement, Bagchi once again reiterated that the government is monitoring all developments affecting the security of the country and taking all necessary steps to uphold the sovereignty and integrity of the country.

“Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh are integral parts of India. We expect other countries to respect India’s sovereignty and territorial integrity,” he said.

Government is developing infrastructure in the border areas

The Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson said that the government has started developing the border structure to fully safeguard the security interests of the country. This includes construction of roads and bridges etc.

He said that the infrastructure development in the border areas is not only being done keeping in view the strategic and security needs of the country but it will also lead to the economic development of these areas.

Bridge being built 20 km away from LAC

According to reports, the new bridge is being built 20 km away from the LAC on the Chinese side.

Like the first bridge, China is building this bridge in Khurnak area. The lake is the thinnest at this point and will be connected via a bridge to Rudok on the southern bank of Khurnak.

The old bridge was said to reduce the distance of 180 km for Chinese forces. The new bridge will do the same thing.
