India Govt bans about 320 Chinese Android, iOS Mobile Apps

In June 2020, for the first time, India banned 59 Chinese processors, including TikTok, SHAREit and the UC browser.

The Indian government has so far banned 320 applications, according to the Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry. The question was raised in the Lok Sabha about the applications that are blocked in India.

Commerce and Industry Minister Som Prakash says that “To provide secure and reliable internet to all, 320 mobile applications have been banned in India under sections 2000 and 69A of the IT Act.”

All of these applications are from China. China has invested only $2.5 billion in India from 2000 to 2021. China accounts for just 0.43 percent of India’s foreign investment. Thus there is no impact on the Indian economy.

In June 2020, for the first time, India banned 59 Chinese apps, including TikTok, ShareIt and the UC browser. Android and iOS Mobile Applications, including PUBG, were subsequently banned.

India recently banned 49 Chinese applications. These apps are dummy models of already banned apps.
