Indian PM Modi and US President Biden Virtual Meeting Monday Likely to Discuss Russia-Ukraine war

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, although the two leaders will review the current bilateral cooperation during this period as well as exchange views on recent developments in South Asia, Indo-Pacific and global issues of mutual interest, but amid the Russo-Ukraine war, the two leaders The meeting between is being considered very important.

“Prime Minister Modi and President Biden will exchange views on recent developments in South Asia, the Indo-Pacific and global issues of mutual interest during the meeting, as well as reviewing existing bilateral cooperation ,” the foreign ministry said in a statement .

Important discussions ahead of the two-plus-two meeting

The online meeting will enable the two sides to continue their regular and high-level contacts with the aim of further strengthening the bilateral Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership, the statement said. This online meeting between the two leaders will take place ahead of the fourth session of ‘two plus two’ ministerial talks between India and the US in Washington on Monday.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar will hold talks with US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and Secretary of State Antony Blinken on April 11 in Washington as part of the fourth session of this dialogue.

A day earlier, US President Joe Biden had said in a statement that friendship with India is more important to us than any other country. After this a meeting is being held between the two leaders.

It is worth mentioning that after the Russo-Ukraine war, America is continuously pressurizing India to vote against Russia in the United Nations and support economic sanctions being imposed by Western countries.

On the other hand, after the economic sanctions imposed by western countries, Russia is constantly trying to import oil and other goods from their country. Russia has also offered to supply oil and other goods to India at cheaper rates. In this episode, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov came to India.

In the United Nations, India had appealed for peace by adopting a neutral policy. India does not want to be in any group. That is why both the countries are engaged in trying to make India in their favor. In a way, there is pressure on India from both the countries.
