Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have made a winning start to their campaign in IPL 2022. KKR defeated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 6 wickets in the first match of the tournament on Saturday. CSK, led by Ravindra Jadeja, gave a target of 132 runs, which Kolkata achieved with 9 balls to spare for the loss of 4 wickets.

Opener Ajinkya Rahane scored 44 runs for KKR. He hit 4 fours and 1 six in his innings of 34 balls. Apart from them, Sam Billings (25), Nitish Rana (21), captain Shreyas Iyer, (20 not out), Venkatesh Iyer (16) and Sheldon Jackson contributed 3 not out. Dwayne Bravo took three wickets and Mitchell Santner took one wicket for Chennai.

Dhoni remained unbeaten on 50 off 38 balls. He hit 7 fours and 1 six. At the same time, Jadeja scored 26 runs in 28 balls with 1 six. For KKR, Umesh Yadav took two while Andre Russell and Varun Chakraborty took one wicket each.

Chennai’s dominance against KKR

Chennai’s dominance has been seen against Kolkata. Both the teams have played a total of 27 matches in the IPL so far, with CSK winning 17 times. At the same time, KKR could win only in 9 matches. During this, both the teams also competed in the finals of 2012 and 2021.
