Jeep India has announced the launch of the Meridian in India this year. Jeep India has further revealed that the name Meridian has been carefully selected for the customer’s feeling keeping in mind the relevance and importance of this model to the Indian market.
A list of 70 names, including some global Jeep names, was reviewed. However, an SUV that was to be made entirely of ‘Made in India’ needed a better name that would captivate and impress the customers.
We thought we should give as much importance to the name given to the vehicle as we give to it. Jeep India is finally saying that we have decided to name our 7 seater SUV, which is about to be newly launched in India, Meridian.
Speaking of the new Meridian car, in terms of exterior, this new car bears a striking resemblance to Jeep’s Cherokee car. Many of the elements at the front and back ends of the meridian seem to have been given the same status as in Cherokee.
The roof line of the Meridian is taller than Jeep’s Compass car. This will provide a hassle-free travel experience especially for those sitting in the third row of the vehicle. Recent spy shots have revealed that the interior of the Meridian car is very similar to the Compass car.
Accordingly, the Jeep is expected to modify trims and upholstery to keep things a little different like the Brazil-spec model. It looks like this car will feature many features like the International Model 10-Speaker 450W Harmon Garden Sound System, Alexa In-Vehicle Functions and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).
The car is expected to come with a touchscreen infotainment system with connected car technology. It is also rumored that the Meridian will receive features including Dual-John Climate Control, Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Wireless Phone Charger, Panoramic Sunroof, Powered Front Seats and Digital Drivers Display.
This car comes in a very powerful tune with a 170PS 2-liter diesel engine as far as the powertrain is concerned. It also gets a 6-speed manual (front-wheel drive) and 9-speed automatic (all-wheel drive) transmission. The exact release date of the Jeep Meridian has not been announced yet. However, bookings are expected to start in May.
