Kerala Govt Cuts State Tax on Diesel Rs.1.36, Petrol Rs.2.41 per litre

Kerala Finance Minister KN Balagopal, while announcing the cut in state tax, said that the central government has partially reduced the heavy tax levied by it. After which the public has now been given double relief.

After the reduction in excise duty on petrol and diesel by the central government, the Kerala government has also decided to give double relief to the people of the state. The Kerala government announced a reduction in tax on petrol and diesel by Rs 2.41 and Rs 1.36, respectively.

In view of the impact on common life due to the ever-increasing prices of fuel products, the government on Saturday announced reduction of excise duty on petrol and diesel by Rs 8 and Rs 6 per liter respectively.

Along with this, the government also announced a subsidy of Rs 200 per cylinder on LPG cylinders used for cooking in homes. This subsidy will be given on 12 gas cylinders in a year to the beneficiaries of Ujjwala scheme.

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman informed about this decision to reduce excise duty on petrol and diesel and give gas subsidy. Apart from increasing the prices of petrol and diesel in the last few months, the prices of LPG have also increased continuously.

Due to this, the budget of the people was getting affected badly. In view of this, all the experts and opposition parties were demanding reduction in fuel prices.

However, after the latest cut in excise duty, the central tax on petrol has come down to Rs 19.9 per liter while in case of diesel it is Rs 15.8 per litre.
