Draupadi Murmu comes from tribal Santhal tribe
Draupadi Murmu was born in Mayurbhanj district of Odisha in the Santhal tribe on June 20, 1958 and her father Biranchi Narayan was a farmer from Baldaposi village in Tudu district. She did her graduation from Ramadevi Women’s College, Bhubaneswar.

Husband and both sons died in the accident
Murmu has also served as a Junior Assistant in the Irrigation Department of Odisha. Won assembly election for the first time
Murmu started his political journey by joining the BJP in 1997. She was elected councilor for the first time in 1997 on a seat reserved for tribals in Rairangpur district of Odisha. Murmu won his first assembly election in 2000 from Rairangpur and held the commerce and transport ministries in the state government. At that time there was a coalition government of Biju Janata Dal and BJP in the state. After that she continued to climb the ladder of success.
Murmu has been the first tribal woman governor of the country
In 2000, Murmu was shifted from the Transport Department to the Department of Fisheries and Animal Husbandry and the BJP made him its District President. In 2009, he again won the election from Rairangpur assembly.
BJP made Murmu its district president for the second time in 2010 and for the third time in 2013. In 2015, Draupadi Murmu was made the governor of Jharkhand. She was the first tribal woman governor of the country.
