Sao Paulo: Brazilian football legend Pele has been hospitalized for cancer treatment. The doctors of the hospital gave information about this on Tuesday. The 81-year-old has gone through several sessions of chemotherapy in Sao Paulo since the tumor was removed from the colon last September.
“Edson Arantes do Nascimento was admitted to the Israeli Albert Einstein Hospital on Monday,” doctors said. “His condition is good and stable and he should be discharged in the next few days,” a hospital statement said.
One of the greatest football players of all time, Pele set a world record of 1,281 goals in a professional career spanning 1,363 matches, which was in 21 years, reports Xinhua. He played 91 matches for Brazil, scoring 77 international goals.
