MI vs DC: Delhi knocked out of the play-offs after losing the match, Bangalore qualified

In the 69th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, Mumbai Indians (MI) defeated Delhi Capitals (DC) by five wickets and were knocked out of the play-off race.

DC played first and scored 159/7 with the help of 43 runs from Rovman Powell.

In reply, MI won the match with the help of innings from Ishan Kishan (48), Dewald Brevis (37) and Tim David (34).

Such an exciting match

DC scored 37 runs after the powerplay and lost three wickets. After a poor start, captain Rishabh Pant (39) and Rovman Powell showed a struggle and shared a 75-run partnership to take the team to a respectable score. Lower down the order, Axar Patel scored an unbeaten 19 off 10 balls.

In reply, Kishan (48), who came to open the innings, missed a half-century. However, David played a key role in the win by scoring 34 runs in 11 balls.

Bumrah became the second highest wicket-taker from Mumbai

Jasprit Bumrah bowled lethally and took three wickets for 25 runs.

He has become the second highest wicket-taker while playing for MI. While playing for MI, Bumrah has taken 148 wickets at an average of 23.39. He has left behind Harbhajan Singh (147).

Bumrah is only behind Lasith Malinga, who has taken the most wickets in MI jersey with 195 wickets.

Kuldeep took one wicket (1/33) and has 21 wickets in the current season. He has become the joint-highest wicket-taker left-arm spinner in an IPL season. He has equaled Pragyan Ojha (IPL 2010).

Useful innings by Powell and Pant

Powell, who came to bat in difficult conditions, scored 43 runs in 34 balls with the help of one four and four sixes. He has hit 43 sixes in 20 T20 matches so far this year.

Captain Pant scored 39 runs in 33 balls with the help of four fours and a six. He has not been able to score any fifty in the league stage in the current season.

Other records made in the match

This season was disappointing for Rohit Sharma in captaincy as well as batting. He scored 268 runs in 14 matches at an average of 19.14. Meanwhile, 48 was his highest score. This is the first season where Rohit has not been able to score any fifty.

Mumbai’s team finished this season in the last 10th place. For the first time in IPL history, Mumbai has been ranked last.

Play-off matches will start from May 24

The Bangalore team will now take on the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the Eliminator match at the Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata. This match will be played on 25 May.

In the first qualifier match, Gujarat Titans (GT) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) will face on 24 May.

The second qualifier will be played on May 27 while the final match will be played on May 29.

The second qualifier and the title match will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
