A two-storey building collapsed near the Western Express Highway in Mumbai’s Bandra West, the capital of Maharashtra, on Wednesday night. One person died in this accident, while 22 people are injured.
Several people are feared trapped under the debris. Some were taken out by the local people before the arrival of the fire brigade.
Four to five vehicles of fire brigade have reached the spot. Rescue work is being done. According to the fire department, according to the information given to them by the local people, there are still 2 people inside, who are being evacuated.
The injured have been admitted to Bhabha Hospital. This incident happened around 1 AM. A G+2 structure has collapsed at Shastri Nagar, Bandra West. Few people have been shifted to hospital. 3-4 suspected to be trapped in debris. Rescue operations are underway. The exact numbers awaited from hospital .
The Shastringarh area of Bandra has a large population of laborers from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar who came to Mumbai in search of work. A house built next to a three-storey building was demolished two days ago and the foundation of the three-storey building is believed to have collapsed, the DCP said.
According to locals, the building collapsed before the eyes of a young man who was on his way to work. Recognizing the seriousness of the incident, he rushed to the rescue with the help of others. Locals tried to evacuate people trapped under the rubble. However, one died in the accident.
He also expressed fears that some people were still trapped under the rubble. Locals said that the builder had demolished the house adjacent to the building two days ago. So the foundation of this building was removed and this building collapsed.
