Mumbai: Nana Patole has filed a defamation suit against Rashmi Shukla for allegedly demanding Rs.500 crore in a telephone tapping case.
Congress state president Nana Patole had alleged that his phone conversations were tapped during the previous BJP regime.
A female IPS officer, a former state intelligence chief, has been charged in connection with the leaking of Nana Patole’s phone conversation. Pune police recently registered a case against officer Rashmi Shukla.
Mumbai Colaba police have also registered a case against Rashmi Shukla for tapping Sanjay Rawat and Eknath Katche’s phone conversation.
Nana Patole is suing Rashmi Shukla in the Nagpur Civil Court for Rs.500 crore. Apart from Rashmi Shukla, Pune Crime Branch Inspector Vaishali Chandugude, Additional Chief Secretary of the State Home, Pune and Nagpur Police Commissioners are also involved in the case, which is being pursued by the Congress state legislature on behalf of Nana Patole.
The petition also seeks a permanent ban on the misuse of information illegally registered by Rashmi Shukla.
