New Delhi: A two-day conference of Chief Justices and Chief Ministers of High Courts across the country was held at Vigyan Bhawan in Delhi on Saturday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Supreme Court Chief Justice NV Ramana also participated in this.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also attended the meeting. After the inaugural session of the conference ended, Prime Minister Modi met most of the Chief Ministers, including West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, over tea.
During this, a video of PM Modi’s conversation with Mamta is going viral on social media. In the video, PM Modi is telling CM Mamata something about red chillies, although it is not clear in what context and what they are talking about. PM Modi is telling Mamata a recipe related to red Chili’s.
The Prime Minister also met Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. In the conference, Mamta also asked the Chief Justice of India to fill up the pending vacancies at the High Court as well as the lower court level at the earliest.
After the conference, the Prime Minister also met Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. Last year, after winning the Bengal elections, and again in November, Banerjee had met the PM over the demands of her state.
Addressing the program ‘We should take care of ‘Lakshman Rekha’ , Chief Justice of the Supreme Court NV Raman said that we should take care of ‘Lakshman Rekha’. If any work is done according to the law, then the judiciary will never come in the way of governance. If torture ends in illegal custody, people will not approach the courts. The CJI said that a law should be made after debate and discussion involving the people concerned and their aspirations.
After the conference, Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju said that the conference took place after a gap of six years and the Chief Justices and Chief Ministers changed their views regarding infrastructure.
