Presidential election: Opposition parties choosed Yashwant Sinha as common candidate

Opposition parties have stated they will not run in the by-elections, but have fielded former Union Minister Yashwant Sinha.

New Delhi: The election to elect a new president will take place on July 18 and the counting of votes will take place on July 21. The 29th is the last day for filing nominations. Opposition parties have stated they will not run in the by-elections.

No candidate has yet been announced for the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance. Neither the Congress nor the Opposition has announced a common candidate.

In this context, the opposition parties, led by Nationalist Congress Party leader Sarabjit Pawar, are holding consultations in Delhi on fielding a common candidate in the presidential election. Trichy Siva, Vizika MP on behalf of Congress and DMK were present at the consultation meeting. Thirumavalavan and others have participated.

In this context, it has been reported that the opposition parties have unanimously decided to field former Union Minister Yashwant Sinha as the common candidate in the presidential election. According to reports, there is a consensus on the ongoing consultation led by Sarabjit.
