Jaipur: The union government yesterday reduced excise duty on petrol and diesel to provide relief to the people from fuel prices.
Meanwhile, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has been asking state governments to reduce VAT on petroleum products and provide relief to the public.
In this situation, the Rajasthan government has reduced the value added tax (VAT) on petrol by Rs 2.48 per liter and diesel by Rs 1.16 per liter.
As a result, petrol price in the state has come down by Rs 10.48 per liter and diesel by Rs 7.16 per liter, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said on Twitter.
Following in the footsteps of Kerala and Rajasthan, many more state governments are expected to reduce VAT on petrol and diesel.
