A few days ago, a court in Ukraine banned Facebook and Instagram in a case against social media companies for ignoring fake news of Russian military action in Russia and the Russian government’s demand for the removal of provocative news of protests in Russia. Earlier, Twitter was also banned in connection with fake news.

Meanwhile, following Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, Russia has now banned Google News in its country. Russia’s communications regulator has taken action against Google News. Google has been accused of spreading false news.

Russia has recently introduced a new law. Comments, statements and news that defame the Russian military have been declared illegal under this Act.

Earlier in the day, a Moscow court banned Facebook and Instagram in a case related to ‘terrorist activities’, following a lawsuit filed against Meta, the parent company of two social media sites.
