The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) is set to appoint an agency to help collect data from the scene during search and seizure operations. For this, SEBI has invited applications from experienced digital forensic agencies to seize, retrieve and analyze digital evidence from devices such as mobiles, computers and tablets.
Steps taken after complaints of fraud
The market regulator has taken this step in view of complaints of alleged fraud by several entities using the Telegram app.
In a statement on Tuesday, SEBI said that the data forensic agency will have to assist in the search and seizure of data from the team and the spot during the search and seizure.
Apart from this, this agency will also have to seize many types of digital devices like laptops, mobile phones, smartphones, tablets, hard drives, USB drives, CDs / DVDs, servers etc. for forensic use. According to the regulator, interested forensic agencies can apply till April 26.
