A Spice Jet flight from Dubai to Madurai on Monday arrived late in Madurai due to a technical glitch, reports said.
This is the 9th time in the last 24 days that a SpiceJet-owned aircraft has experienced a technical fault. While the Directorate of Civil Aviation had already issued a notice to SpiceJet on July 6 to explain the series of glitches, now another incident has taken place.
SpiceJet flight SG23 from Mangalore, Karnataka to Dubai arrived on Monday. Upon arrival at Dubai airport, an engineer inspected the plane’s wheel and found that it had come under abnormally high pressure and failed. The problem was detected when the flight was ready to take off from Dubai to Madurai.
Along with this, SpiceJet sent an alternate flight from Mumbai to Dubai. The plane reached Madurai carrying passengers. Due to this, the flight was delayed in reaching Madurai.
The company’s spokesperson said, ‘Due to a technical fault detected at the last minute, the Dubai-Madurai flight service was delayed. A replacement flight was immediately dispatched and the passengers were brought to India.
Delays are common with all airlines. “There is no threat to the safety of the aircraft,” the release said.
