Security agencies are concerned about the possible use of ‘sticky bombs’ during the Amarnath Yatra beginning later this month .
The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel deployed for the security of the yatra are being informed about this bomb. CRPF Deputy Inspector General (Hiranagar Range) Devendra Yadav said that vigilance is very important to deal with the threat of ‘sticky bomb’.
What are ‘sticky bombs’?
They are very small in size and are magnetically attached to any surface. These can be detonated with the help of a timer by sticking to the surface of any vehicle. Due to their adhesive nature, they are called ‘sticky bombs’.
Last month, there was information about detonating a ‘ sticky bomb ‘ in a bus full of devotees going to Vaishno Devi . Four passengers were killed in the blast, while 22 were injured.
‘Sticky bombs’ were also found on drones from Pakistan
According to media reports, recently the police recovered a drone coming from Pakistan side in Kathua area. In addition to weapons, there were also seven ‘sticky bombs’ on it.
After this, the security agencies have changed their strategy especially in view of the Amarnath Yatra. Now every person going on the journey is being instructed not to leave his vehicle unattended.
‘Sticky bombs’ were recovered for the first time last year
In February last year, for the first time, ‘sticky bombs’ were recovered in Jammu’s Samba sector. This was the first time that such bombs were found in Jammu and Kashmir.
They were commonly used in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Talking about history, Britain first used these bombs in the Second World War. These bombs were then prepared with the help of grenades and glass flasks filled with nitro-glycerin.

In this, he had given necessary guidelines while reviewing the preparations for the Amarnath Yatra. Earlier, he had held one such meeting last month as well.
Apart from this, the Ministry of Home Affairs also holds a meeting every Monday to take stock of the preparations for the Amarnath Yatra.
This year Amarnath Yatra will start from 30th June and registration for it has already started. This yatra will last for 43 days and will end on the day of Raksha Bandhan.
Due to the outbreak of the epidemic in the last two years, this yatra could not be organized. This time also it will be necessary for the passengers to follow all the protocols of prevention from the epidemic.
On the other hand, ensuring its security for increasing terrorist activities will be a big challenge for the agencies.
