Toyota Kirloskar Motor has announced plans to launch the first hydrogen-powered electric car in India. Toyota’s announcement comes as the market for electric vehicles has already begun in India.
Toyota released an official statement saying that the electric car, which uses hydrogen as a fuel, would work in conjunction with the government’s testing company, the International Automotive Technology Center. Here are the important things you need to know about India’s first hydrogen-electric car.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor Company’s hydrogen-electric car is named Toyota Mirai. The word ‘mirai’ in Japanese means ‘future’.
This car runs on cell batteries, using hydrogen as fuel. It only takes five minutes to fully charge the car. Once fully charged, it can go up to 650 km.
This hydrogen powered vehicle is considered to be the best solution to achieve the zero emission objective without causing any harm to the environment. There are several types of recyclable sources of fuel for these types of vehicles, namely green hydrogen. Efforts are also being made to introduce appropriate technology for the use of green hydrogen.
Based on the above details, the Union Ministry of Power has proposed to produce buses that can currently run on hydrogen. These buses were said to run between Delhi and Jaipur.
