Mumbai: Two boats were seized suspiciously in Raigad near Mumbai in Maharashtra. Three AK 47 rifles, shells and explosives were also seized from the boat. About 200 km from Mumbai and 170 km from Pune is Harihareshwar beach. This beach belongs to Raigad district.
Local fishermen found a 16 meter long boat here. Following this, information was sent to the police and they seized the boat. AK 47 rifles and explosives were found from it. Security has been strengthened not only in Raigad district but also in major parts of Mumbai.
In this regard, Raigat MLA Aditi Tadgare said, “Chief Minister Eknath Shinde should order a high-level inquiry into this matter. With Dahi Handi festival tomorrow and Vinayagar Chaturthi festival just 10 days away, such a security threat has occurred. The government should pay serious attention to this.”
Deputy Chief Minister of the state Devendra Patnavis has also inquired about the incident and is monitoring the situation. Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Phadnavis said, “So far the motive for the terrorist activities has not been identified, however the security forces are investigating from all angles. There is no compromise on security issues.”
Already, the terrorists who were involved in the 2008 Mumbai terror attack came from Pakistan by boat and attacked Mumbai. Therefore, today’s incident is being investigated by the Maharashtra Police and the Anti-Terrorism Squad.
