Lucknow: The comments made by Nupur Sharma and Naveen Kumar Jindal, former BJP spokespersons about the Prophet, have created controversy. In this context, Muslims across the country staged protests yesterday demanding their arrest.
Protests were also held in Lucknow, Pragya Raj, Moradabad and Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh. Clashes broke out between police and protesters in Moradabad and Pragyaraj. Vehicles were set on fire. Police fired tear gas.
136 people have been arrested in connection with this incident. According to Prashant Kumar, Additional Director, Law and Order, 136 protesters have been arrested in Uttar Pradesh.

Accordingly, a total of 136 people have been arrested, including 45 from Saharanpur, 37 from Prayagraj, 23 from Ambedkar Nagar, 20 from Hathras, 7 from Moradabad and 4 from Firozabad district, he said.
