In Uttar Pradesh , during the teacher recruitment in the last years, a case of use of fake documents has come to the fore.
An investigation conducted by the State Basic Education Council and the Special Task Force (STF) revealed that around 2,494 candidates got jobs for the post of teachers in the state by using forged documents.
Let us inform that the opposition has been accusing the Yogi government for a long time regarding the teacher recruitment scam in the state.
STF got orders for investigation in 2020
According to the report of The Quint , in 2020, the Uttar Pradesh government had ordered the STF to investigate the scam after a major controversy over recruitment in the education department.
A senior STF official claimed that these figures are very low and if the entire state is thoroughly investigated, the number of such fake teachers can reach more than 10,000.
2,461 teachers have been dismissed
According to the information, in this case the teachers found working in the education department have been identified and action is underway including registration of First Information Report (FIR), termination of service and recovery of salary amount.
According to official figures, 2,347 FIRs have been registered during investigation and 2,461 teachers found to be forged have been dismissed for using forged documents during recruitment.
Certificates of Educational Qualification uploaded on Manav Sampada Portal
A senior official of the state education department said, “We have created the database and uploaded all the mark sheets from class 10 to 12 to Bachelor of Education (BET) and Teacher Eligibility Test ( TET ) on our Manav Sampada portal. ”
He said that our committee is investigating many such cases in different districts of the state. During this we found many teachers to be fake and then filed FIR, recovery notice and suspension.
What was the purpose of uploading the data on Manav Sampada Portal?
According to the official data released by Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Council Aarey, service records and documents related to the appointment and educational qualification of 5,59,144 teachers have been uploaded on the Manav Sampada portal so far.
Apart from digitization, the campaign was aimed at kicking out such teachers, who used forged documents to get jobs and got selected for the post by other wrong means.
227 fake teachers used the proof of others during recruitment
The STF, in its latest probe into the documents of 227 fake teachers, found that more than 90 per cent teachers either posed as someone else’s documents as themselves or used forged documents to fulfill the eligibility demands.
Other means used for fraud included forged caste certificates, freedom fighter certificates, disability certificates and transfer orders.
Teacher recruitment scam exposed after Anamika Shukla scandal
In June 2020, the Uttar Pradesh government came to know that many women by the name ‘Anamika Shukla’ have been recruited as teachers in government schools.
The alleged Anamika’s name was registered as a teacher in several districts of the state. This woman took about 1 crore rupees from the department in 13 months job.
After this many such teachers were arrested. After that the teacher recruitment scam started gaining momentum.
