Mumbai: The Congress party has demanded that Pune, one of the major cities in Maharashtra, be renamed. This demand of the Congress party has come as a surprise to everyone as the problems for the ruling party in the state have increased.

Chief Minister Uttam on behalf of the Congress party demanded at a cabinet meeting that Pune be renamed ‘Jijau Nagar’ in memory of Jijau Bai, the mother of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

As the political crisis in Maharashtra continues, the Congress demanded that Pune be renamed Jijau Nagar at a cabinet meeting chaired by Uttam Thackeray.

The Congress party also demanded that Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) be renamed after local leader DB Patil.

Political watchers also believe that there is politics behind the demands of the Congress, with disgruntled minister Eknath Shinde’s demand to name the Navi Mumbai airport after Balasaheb Thackeray.

Meanwhile, some people walked out during a cabinet meeting chaired by Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. Two cabinet ministers and Congress leaders Varsha Gaekwad and Aslam Shaikh walked out of the meeting.

Other important decisions taken at the Maharashtra Cabinet meeting

Some important decisions like renaming Aurangabad as “Sambhaji Nagar” were also taken at this cabinet meeting.
