Delhi Woman Raped by 4 Railway Staffs has Arrested

An incident has come to light where railway employees gang-raped a woman who was married and living apart from her husband by claiming to get her a job.

New Delhi: In India, a 30-year-old woman was raped by a 4 Railway Staffs on a New Delhi railway station platform. Four railway employees have been arrested in this case. The police said that the 4 accused were employees of the Railway’s electrical department.

Police said the gang-rape took place inside the railway lamp hut on the platform on Thursday night. Two of the accused were said to have raped the woman, while the others were reportedly detained outside.

Police have identified the accused as 35-year-old Satish Kumar, 38-year-old Vinod Kumar, 33-year-old Mangal Chand and 37-year-old Jagdish Chand.

Regarding the incident, Railway DCP Harendra Singh said that the woman called the police station at 3.27 am and informed about the incident. He said that the police immediately rushed to the railway station and rescued him.

The woman told the police that she lives in Faridabad, Haryana. She separated from her husband two years ago and was looking for a job. The woman told the police that she met Satish, one of the accused, through a friend and he promised to get her a job in the railways.

On Thursday, Satish called her and invited her to his son’s birthday party at his new home. At around 10.30 pm, the woman met Satish at the Kirti Nagar metro station.

He then took her to the New Delhi railway station where the three accused met them, she told the police. She claimed that she was then gang-raped inside the railway lamp hut.

Within 2 hours of reporting the plight of the woman, the police arrested all the four accused and registered a case. They were produced before a local court and sent to judicial custody, the Railways said.
