AAP promises Rs 1,000 monthly allowance to the women of Gujarat if voted to power

Earlier, Kejriwal had assured free electricity up to 300 units per month if he came to power in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-ruled Gujarat. Assembly elections in Gujarat are due by the end of this year.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday promised a monthly allowance of Rs 1,000 to women above 18 years of age if his party forms the government in Gujarat. CM Kejriwal also said that this monthly allowance will be given to only those women who will give approval for it.

This is the fifth ‘guarantee’ given by the AAP chief to the people as part of his election campaign in Gujarat. Assembly elections are due in the state later this year .

Declaring this in front of hundreds of women, Kejriwal said that Rs 1,000 (monthly allowance) is not a rewari. This is your right. Public money should go to the public and not to the Swiss bank.

Earlier, the Aam Aadmi Party has also given a guarantee of Rs 3,000 per month allowance to unemployed youth and till they get a job. In an announcementmade in Surat last month, CM Kejriwal had said that free electricity up to 300 units per month would be provided to the people if his party formed the government in the state.

Addressing a public meeting, Kejriwal said that we have given the first guarantee that within 3 months of our government formation in Gujarat, we will make electricity free. Your dues will also be waived and 24 hours electricity will be given.

He said that we gave a second guarantee that if our government is formed, we will arrange employment for all in 5 years.
