England squad announced for ODI and T20 series against India

Uncapped Gleason gets chance in T20 team

Fast bowler Richard Gleason has been selected for the first time in England’s senior T20 team. Lancashire bowler Gleason has played 64 T20Is so far, taking 70 wickets at an average of 23.82 and an economy rate of 8.01.

At the same time, no England player, who has played in the Edgbaston Test against India, has been selected in the team for the T20 series.

Root returned to ODI team

Former Test captain Joe Root has returned to the ODI team after a gap of a year. David Malan has not been selected in the ODI squad and has been included in the T20 squad only. Luke Wood and David Payne, who recently visited the Netherlands, have been left out of the ODI team.

Chris Woakes, Mark Wood, Jofra Archer , Tom Curran and Saqib Mahmood are unavailable due to injury.

Butler will be seen in the role of regular captain for the first time

The veteran Buttler has been appointed as the regular captain of the ODI and T20 teams for the first time.

Prior to this, he has captained nine ODIs so far in the absence of the chief captain, out of which his team has won six.

Apart from this, Butler has captained five T20 Internationals, in which his team has won three. Butler’s captaincy is going to be interesting in front of India’s strong team in the upcoming series.

T20 series will start from 07 July

At present , the Indian cricket team is playing the last Test against England in the remaining series of last year’s incomplete series.

After this only Test, the T20 series will start from July 07. The other two T20 matches will be played on 09 and 10 July.

After this, the ODI series will start from 12 July while the second and third ODI matches will be played on 14 and 17 July respectively.
