Gujarat Titans captain Hardik says proud to have advanced to the playoffs

Gujarat captain Hardik Pandya said he was proud to have qualified for the playoffs before the 14th match.

IPL The Gujarat Titans beat the Lucknow Super Giants by 62 runs in the 57th league match of cricket yesterday.

Batting first, Gujarat scored 144 for 4 in 20 overs. Chapman scored 63 off 49 balls.

The wickets of the Lucknow team then fell towards the target. Lucknow were bowled out for 83 in 13.5 overs by Gujarat. For Gujarat, Rashid Khan took 4 wickets and Yash Dayal and Sai Kishore took 2 wickets each.

Gujarat won the 9th match (12 matches). This allowed the first team to advance to the playoffs. Newcomer Gujarat failed to qualify for the next round of their first series.

Commenting on the victory, Gujarat captain Hardik Pandya said: –

I am really proud to think of our team players. We had faith in ourselves when we started this journey together.

But it is a matter of pride to have qualified for the playoffs before the 14th game. I think we were under pressure in all the matches we won.

I told the players that we would be ruthless when the opponent lost 8 wickets in this match. We will lower them further as they fall down. I said do it and leave and rest after the match.

Left-arm spinner Sai Kishore is a technical bowler. Due to his height and speed he is more likely to take wickets. Couldn’t get him to play because there was a crack shot.

But when we looked at this pitch we thought it would make a big difference if we added a spin bowler for the right hand batsmen. Sai Kishore also performed better accordingly.

As Lucknow captain Lokesh Rahul says, we know this pitch is tricky and challenging.

We threw the ball well. The bowlers did their job better. Should have performed even better in batting.

Has had some bad shot choices and run out vulnerabilities. Hope to get some good lessons from this.
