Trincomalee: President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa have staged a series of public protests demanding the resignation of Sri Lanka due to the ongoing economic crisis in Sri Lanka.
Sri Lankan Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa resigned yesterday in the wake of a series of protests. He then disappeared with the family.
Meanwhile, news spread on social media and some Sri Lankan media that India had fled with Prime Minister Rajapaksa’s family.
The Indian embassy in Sri Lanka has denied the allegations.
It has been reported that the Rajapaksa family has taken refuge in the Pillow House in Trincomalee.
Rajapaksa is said to have taken refuge here as it is a very safe place as it is close to the sea and the entrance to the naval base.
