Taipei: A magnitude 6.1 earthquake shakes Taiwan today. The epicenter was reported below the epicenter at 27.5 km, off the east coast of Taiwan off the coast of Hualien and part of the Yonakuni coast of southern Japan.
Also, no damage has been reported so far. The Japan Meteorological Agency said the quake did not cause a tsunami alert.
Because Taiwan is located between two plates, there are frequent earthquakes.
