144 Imposed Konaseema District Ambedkar name for new district Issue in Andhra Pradesh

In Andhra Pradesh, 144 restraining orders have been issued following riots over the naming of the Konaseema district after Ambedkar.

Andhra Pradesh: The state government has divided 13 districts in Andhra Pradesh into 26 districts for administrative convenience. In this situation, the district of Konaseema was divided into the city of Amalapuram in the East Godavari district. Then Dr. BR Ambedkar urged to change the name to Konaseema district.

At this point another party protested and marched to the collector’s office. Police in riot gear stormed a rally on Friday, removing thousands of protesters by truck. The result was rioting on both sides.

The houses of Minister Viswaroop and Mummudivaram MLA Satish were set on fire. All 8 buses were set on fire. Several vehicles were smashed, including police vehicles and SP Subba Reddy’s vehicle. A gunman was also seriously injured.

A total of 144 restraining orders have been issued following the ongoing tensions there. Thousands of guards have been deployed to prevent any untoward incidents.
