Nilgiris have been receiving heavy rains for the past 3 days due to atmospheric circulation. For the 3rd day in a row, schools and colleges have been given a holiday today. As of this morning, Avalanche has recorded the maximum rainfall of 200 mm.
Chief Minister M. K. Stalin held an emergency meeting with the District Collectors regarding the flood. He also ordered that water should not be released from the dams at night without prior notice.
No public needs to be scared by the excess water released in the tank. More than 400 youths are ready to protect people in case of floods. Similarly, the district collector has announced that everything is ready like the location of food items.
As the water inflow continues to increase, 2 lakh 10 thousand cubic feet of water per second is being released from the Mettur Dam, causing severe flooding in the Cauvery.
Due to this, water has surrounded the residences in the coastal areas. Various measures have been taken by the government to keep people safe.
