Chennai: Traffic congestion is likely to occur on Raja Muthaiyach Road, EVR Periyar Road, Mathiya Sadhukkam, Annamalai (up to Spencer Junction) and surrounding areas from noon to 9 pm today.
The Chennai Metropolitan Traffic Police has announced that there will be a change in traffic in Chennai today July 28 due to the opening ceremony of the 44th International Chess Olympiad.
The 44th Chess Olympiad is being held at Mamallapuram, near Chennai. The opening ceremony for this will be celebrated today at the Nehru Maidan in Chennai. Accordingly, the matches will start from 29th. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the inaugural function today. On the occasion of the visit of the Prime Minister, the traffic will be changed in the main area of Chennai today.
In a statement issued by the Chennai Metropolitan Traffic Police, the opening ceremony of the 44th World Chess Championship will be held today evening at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium, Periyamedu Raja Muthiah Road, Chennai. In this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K.Stalin, Union Ministers, State Ministers, chess players and players from various countries and special guests are going to participate.
Similarly, E.V.G. No vehicles will be allowed from the junction of Sampath Road, Jeremiah Road towards Raja Muthiya Road.
Commercial Vehicles E.V.R.A. Road, Kengu Reddy Road Junction, Nair Palach Junction, Gandhi Irwin Junction towards Central will not be allowed.
Also, commercial vehicles coming from Broadway will be diverted towards Moolakothalam via Kuralakam, Thangasalai, Valdox Road. The traffic police has announced that these vehicles can reach their routes via the Vyasarpadi flyover.
These vehicles can reach their routes via the Vyasarpadi flyover. Motorists are therefore requested to avoid the above road routes and use other routes. People who have to come to the Central Railway Station should plan their itinerary in advance.
