Chennai: Tamilnadu Govt has declared Holiday on 28th July 2022 to Chennai, Thiruvallur, Kanchipuram, Chengalpattu for Chess Olympiad 2022.
Chess Olympiad: Local holiday announced for these 4 districts on July 28 In Mamallapuram, Public Works Minister EV Velu announced that Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kanchipuram and Chengalpattu will be given a local holiday in view of the 44th Chess Olympiad starting on the 28th.
The 44th Chess Olympiad will be held at Mamallapuram from 28th of this month to 10th of August. 2000 players from 200 countries will participate in this. All the necessary facilities are being provided to the players.
The opening ceremony of the program will be held on the 28th at the Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend it. Also, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu has invited the elected President of India, Thirupati Murmu, to participate in the inauguration ceremony.
Earlier, under the leadership of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin, he reviewed the progress made in connection with the Chess Olympiad. In the meeting, it was discussed that four districts namely Chennai, Thiruvallur, Kanchipuram and Chengalpattu should be given holiday in order to conduct the inaugural function properly.
In this case, Public Works Minister Eva Velu, who met the media today, announced that a local holiday will be given to all the four districts on the 28th.
