Eknath Shinde takes oath new CM of Maharashtra, Fadnavis as Deputy Chief Minister

Eknath Shinde , who toppled Uddhav Thackeray’s government by rebelling against Shiv Sena, as the new Chief Minister of Maharashtra. Announcing his name, BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis said that Shinde take oath at 7:30 pm. Shinde is going to become the Chief Minister for the first time.

Fadnavis targets Uddhav Thackeray

Announcing Shinde’s name, Devendra Fadnavis said that in 2019, the alliance of BJP and Shiv Sena had won, but Shiv Sena formed an alliance with those whom Babasaheb had opposed throughout his life.

The BJP leader said that Shiv Sena MLAs wanted to join hands with the BJP, but Uddhav Thackeray ignored them and preferred Congress and NCP. Angered by this, the legislators have raised their voices.

Fadnavis become Deputy Chief Minister

Devendra Fadnavis, who shocked everyone by announcing Shinde’s name for the chief minister’s post this afternoon, had said that he would not be a part of this new government.

However, by evening, BJP national president JP Nadda said that the central leadership has decided that Fadnavis should become the deputy chief minister. He should come to the government and take over in the government. For this he has been personally requested.

Shinde expressed gratitude to BJP

While addressing the media along with Fadnavis, Shinde said that the decision has been taken by being committed to the development of Balasaheb’s Hindutva and assembly of MLAs.

Stating that he had the support of 50 MLAs with him, he said that even after the BJP had 120 MLAs, Fadnavis did not take the chief minister’s post, but made a Shiv Sainik the chief minister. For this he is grateful to Fadnavis and the BJP leadership.

How has been the journey of Eknath Shinde so far?

Shinde, 59, was the urban development minister in the Thackeray government. Shinde, who joined Shiv Sena at a young age, has won elections in 2004, 2009, 2014 and 2019 from the Kopri-Panchpakhadi seat in Thane.

Hailing from the Pahari Jawali taluka of Satara district, Shinde had completed his studies from Thane. Shinde is believed to be behind the strengthening of Shiv Sena in Thane area and his candidate has been winning in every election from here.

Political journey started by winning councilor’s election

Eknath Shinde started his political journey by winning the election of councilor in the Thane Municipal Corporation elections in the year 1997. In 2001, he was elected the Leader of the House in the Thane Municipal Corporation and remained in that position till 2004.

He was also the Leader of the Opposition in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly from October 2014 to December 2014. His son Shrikant Shinde is currently Shiv Sena ‘s Lok Sabha MP from Kalyan.

When Shinde kept on becoming the Chief Minister

Shinde is considered the strongest Shiv Sainik in the party after the Thackeray family. Had Uddhav Thackeray not agreed to become the Chief Minister in 2019, there were strong chances that Shinde could have been made the post.

After the 2019 election results, Shiv Sena had also declared him the leader of the legislature party, but due to the insistence of the allies, Uddhav Thackeray was made the Chief Minister.
