Heavy rain warning Nilgiris, Coimbatore All schools, colleges declared Holiday on August 4

Heavy Rain Warning: All the schools and colleges in the Nilgiri district will be given a one-day holiday only, according to the district administration chief S.P. Amrit E.A.P., they said. As the Red Alert has been issued for the Nilgiris district today, Tamil Nadu Forest Minister K. Ramachandran held an emergency consultation with all departmental officials in Utkai.

Similarly, he said that 353 dangerous trees have been cut down and 308 trees will be cut down and the Tamil Nadu government has recommended to include 13 wetlands in Tamil Nadu in the international Ramsar program to protect them. He also said that it is expected that 5 more places will be included in the Ramsar project.

The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for Theni, Dindigul, Tirupur and Coimbatore districts in Tamil Nadu. Yellow alert has been issued for Nilgiri, Erode, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Nellai, Kumari, Madurai and Virudhunagar districts. In a press release issued by the India Meteorological Department today, ‘Heavy rain will continue in parts of Kerala and Tamil Nadu for the next three days. Very heavy rains will continue this week over southern peninsular India, including parts of Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. It has predicted moderate to heavy rains in Bengaluru on August 3 and 4.

Light rain in the national capital
